Otto Colberg

Otto Colberg (born October 10, 1870 , † March 1952 in Weilheim in Upper Bavaria ) was a German civil engineer and university professor . He was one of the pioneers of reinforced concrete construction.

Life

Otto Colberg studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Dresden , where he became a member of the Corps Thuringia . After completing his studies, he joined the Saxon State Building Service, where he worked, among other things, as a government master builder ( assessor ) at the Dresden building inspections. He then switched to the construction industry and became director of the construction company Dyckerhoff & Widmann . From 1911 to 1935 he taught as a professor at the Hamburg Engineering School , where he set up a concrete testing laboratory and acted as an expert. He spent the rest of his life in Weilheim in Upper Bavaria, where he died in 1952.
