Otto Diedrich von Bülow (born February 22, 1655 ; † 1732 ) was the Landkomtur of the Teutonic Order in Saxony in Lucklum .

Life

His parents were the Danish major general Jakob von Bülow (1625–1681) and his first wife Dorothea Magaretha von Wittorf.

After the death of his father he inherited the Wehningen estate , which was confirmed to him in 1682 by Duke Julius Franz von Sachsen-Lauenburg . He first studied in Helmstedt and then made his Grand Tour through Holland, England, France and Italy. After his return, Duke Christian Albrecht von Holstein-Gottorf appointed him his chamberlain. In 1684 he became court master of Prince Friedrich , whom he accompanied on his tour of the Netherlands and Sweden from 1685 to 1687. In 1690 he was accepted into the Teutonic Order and then traveled to Italy with the prince. He was then appointed a privy councilor, and after the Duke's death he was made chief steward of the Dowager Duchess Friederike Amalie. He also brokered the wedding of the prince with the daughter of the Swedish king Karl XI.

On May 3, 1693 he was elected coadjunctor of the Landkomtur Friedrich Maximilian vom Stain (1636-1703). On April 20, 1694, the election was confirmed by the Grand Master of the Order Franz Ludwig Count Palatine on the Rhine . After the death of Komtur Stains in 1703 he became Komtur of the Ballei Upper and Lower Saxony zu Lucklum. He was able to increase the goods by skillfully buying land. In addition, he built a poor house in Gudow as early as 1704 , which he furnished with 6,500 Reichstalers. He died unmarried and mourned by many in 1732. His tomb is in the religious order church in Lucklum.
