Otto Felsing

Carl Jakob Otto Felsing (born March 7, 1831 in Darmstadt , † September 20, 1878 in Berlin ) was a German copper printer and engraver .

Life

Carl Jakob Otto Felsing was the son of Johann Heinrich Felsing . Felsing was the first to learn to be an art fitter . He received his training as a copper printer and engraver in his father's workshop in Darmstadt .

From 1852 to 1857 Felsing was in London for further training , after which he worked in his father's print shop in Darmstadt. In 1870, Felsing took over the printing works in Darmstadt from his father.

Felsing, with his sons Friedrich Felsing and Wilhelm Felsing, also ran his own engraver printing company in Munich .

In 1875 his sons founded a company ("Hof-Kupferdruckerei und Nationaler Verlag Otto Felsing") in Berlin-Charlottenburg . The print shop in Darmstadt was given up in the same year.

From 1881 Wilhelm Felsing headed the print shop in Berlin, specializing in all gravure printing processes. The only reproducing graphics took a back seat.

Many famous artists had Felsing printed; z. B. Lovis Corinth , Otto Greiner , Max Klinger , Käthe Kollwitz , Max Liebermann , Ernst Oppler , Max Slevogt and Heinrich Zille .
