Otto Frommel
Otto Frömmel (born November 2, 1873 in Berlin ; † May 31, 1940 there ) was a German children's book author.
Live and act
Frommel worked as a bookseller in his hometown of Berlin. In memory of his own childhood and especially inspired by the onomatopoeic bell verses heard by Berlin children, he devoted himself intensively to the collection of nursery rhymes . With the publication of the results of his collection he turned to children and adults and wanted to awaken a general “understanding of folklore ” at the same time . His collection includes u. a. early evidence for the well-known nursery rhyme Hänschen klein and the nursery rhyme Finster was it, the moon shone brightly . Another "collection of idioms, folk customs and the like" that had been announced was no longer carried out.
He found his final resting place in the south-west cemetery in Stahnsdorf .
