Otto Heß (doctor)

Otto Heß (* 1875 in Marburg , † 1955 in Bremen ) was a German doctor and clinic director.

biography

Hess was the son of a professor of mathematics in Marburg. He studied medicine at the University of Marburg and worked at the Marburg University Clinic there. He received his doctorate and habilitation in Marburg in 1907. Then he was a hospital doctor in Poznan . During the First World War he was chief physician of field hospitals from 1914 to 1917 .

In 1920 he was appointed director of the Bremen hospital and its medical management in Bremen . In 1933 he stayed in office, but had to accept the strong influence of the National Socialists' health policy . Doctors from his clinic have been fired for political reasons. Although he still joined the NSDAP , he still lost his office, which he held provisionally until 1938.
