Otto Josef Hofer (born June 28, 1944 ) is a former Swiss dressage rider .

From 1982 to 1985 he won the Swiss championship title in dressage riding four times in a row with Limandus . At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles he won the bronze medal in the individual dressage on Limandus and, together with Samuel Schatzmann , Daniel Ramseier and Christine Stückelberger, the silver medal in the team dressage behind the West German team and ahead of Sweden. Four years later Hofer could this success with the Swiss team at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul and repeat on Andiamo in the team dressage together with Christine Stückelberger and Amy Catherine de Bary win the silver medal behind the West German team and ahead of Canada.

Hofer was also successful at the European Dressage Championships . After winning bronze in team dressage in 1983, he achieved the silver medal in individual dressage in 1985. In 1987 he was also able to win silver with the Swiss team in team dressage, two years later he also won bronze again.

In 1987, 1988 and 1989 he won the Swiss championship again, this time with Andiamo .
