Otto Köhler (politician)

Otto Köhler (born March 10, 1897 in Bühnsdorf ; † June 27, 1960 there ) was a German politician ( DVP , FDP ).

Life and work

After attending secondary school , Köhler completed an agricultural training course. He was a soldier in the First World War . In 1920 he took over his own farm in Bühnsdorf, his birthplace . In addition to his professional activity, he volunteered in the agricultural cooperative system. From 1929 to 1933 he was provincial chairman of the Land and Farmers' Union in Schleswig-Holstein . From 1933 to 1945 he was head of the agricultural cooperative organization in Schleswig-Holstein and district farmer leader in the Segeberg district . Because of his work in National Socialist organizations, he was interned from 1945 to 1948. Then he took over the management of his farm again.

In the Weimar Republic , Köhler belonged to the DVP and had been a member of the state executive in Prussia since 1924 . After the dissolution of the DVP in 1933, he became a member of the NSDAP . In 1955 he joined the FDP , in whose state board for Schleswig-Holstein he was elected in 1956. From 1957 Köhler was a member of the federal executive committee; he was also a member of the German Bundestag from 1957 until his death.
