Otto Kemper

Otto Kemper (born June 13, 1900 in Bocholt ; † July 12, 1974 there ) was a German mayor .

Life

As the son of the married couple Heinrich Kemper and Elisabeth Wolbring, he grew up with six siblings. After an apprenticeship as a carpenter, he did his military service in 1918. After the end of the First World War , Otto Kemper passed the master craftsman examination and in 1933 became deputy head master of the carpenter's guild . Towards the end of the Second World War , Bocholt was reduced to rubble by the Allies on March 22, 1945 . As head of operations, Kemper showed particular commitment and organizational talent in repairing the war damage.

On October 17, 1948 Otto Kemper was elected to the city council in the local elections; On November 5, 1948, he was elected Lord Mayor of Bocholt as a candidate for the CDU . He stayed in this office until the beginning of October 1964. Kemper held many honorary positions: district master craftsman , guild master, board member of the Münster Chamber of Crafts .
