Otto Kipp

Otto Kipp (born November 4, 1903 ; † May 30, 1978 ) was a German communist resistance fighter against National Socialism , Spain fighter , prisoner in Buchenwald concentration camp and director of the Halle energy combine.

Life

Kipp attended elementary school and took up vocational training . He joined the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) and was active against the emerging National Socialism . After the transfer of power to the NSDAP , he was taken into “ protective custody ”. In 1937 he followed the call of the Comintern and took part in the fight of the German International Brigade in Spain against the Franco putschists . After military conflicts he was captured and then transferred to Zwickau prison. In 1938 he was admitted to the Buchenwald concentration camp and sent to the prisoner infirmary, where he was employed as a deputy kapo . Here he participated in the illegal prisoner resistance . He organized the party organization for the communist prisoners in the East Saxony region .
