Otto Lindheimer

Friedrich Otto Lindheimer (born November 11, 1842 in Frankfurt am Main ; † June 21, 1894 there ) was a German architect and building contractor who also worked as a painter and building historian .

Otto Lindheimer was the son of a master carpenter , studied at the Karlsruhe Polytechnic and in Berlin . Around 1864 he settled in Frankfurt am Main as an independent architect and building contractor.

From 1872 he was a member of the board of directors of the New Zoological Society . Together with the zoo director Max Schmidt and the construction technician Lorenz Müller, he worked out a concept for the new zoological garden on the Pfingstweide , the main features of which still exist today.

Lindheimer was involved in the planning and execution of numerous buildings in Frankfurt and the surrounding area, including a. numerous private villas, apartment and commercial buildings as well as some factory buildings.

He was married to Franziska Karoline born in 1866. Lautenschläger (1847-1889). From the marriage came u. a. the daughters Anna Margaretha, married since 1891. Binding (1867–1956), and Amalie Henriette, married since 1890. Chun (1869 - after 1927).

After Lindheimer's death, his construction business was taken over by the architect Anton Beiler (1850–1925).
