Otto Patow (1905)

Otto Wilhelm David Patow (born February 15, 1847 in Hamburg ; † April 29, 1932 there ) was a Hamburg wine wholesaler and politician.

Life

Patow was the owner of the wine wholesaler DACords Söhne . From 1895 to 1919 Patow belonged to the Hamburg citizenship , he was a member of the faction of the right , since 1918 of the faction of the National Liberals . He was a member of the finance deputation at least from 1899 to 1902. Leo Lippmann reported on his work in the finance deputation: As in the citizenry, he always shows understanding for all social issues in the administration. In contrast to Nottebohm, Sanders and Lavy , he took the view that public money should not only be used for what is absolutely essential, but also for the promotion of intellectual interests. So he worked with great energy to ensure that a worthy building would be built for the Museum of Hamburg History, which is inadequately housed in the basement of the Johanneum building on Fischmarkt . He saw the inauguration of the magnificent new museum building in the Holstenwallanlagen as a success of his work. Patow was a member of the citizens' committee from 1904 to 1913. During the First World War , Patow was a member of the Commission for War Supply.
