Otto Schmidt (reporter)
Otto Schmidt (born March 20, 1953 in Styria; † January 7, 2009 ) was an Austrian journalist and reporter for ORF .
Otto Schmidt grew up in Pinkafeld in Burgenland. In 1968 he moved with his family to Tübingen in Germany. This is also where its distinctive accent originated.
In Stuttgart he completed an acting course including pantomime and speech training at the University of Music and Performing Arts . One of his fellow students was the German entertainer Harald Schmidt . In Germany he made a number of television recordings, including for the Tatort television series .
In 1984 Schmidt came back to Vienna and won a moderation competition. In Vienna he worked as a presenter and reporter for Radio Wien . His Viennese stories , interviews with Viennese originals, became famous. He conducted a total of over 10,000 interviews for ORF.
Otto Schmidt lived in Favoriten . After a long and serious illness, he died on January 7, 2009, leaving behind a wife and three children aged twelve, 14 and 18 years.
