Otto Tilmann
Otto Tilmann (born August 17, 1862 in Neuwied ; † January 12, 1934 in Cologne ) was a German surgeon and university professor.
Life
From 1880 Tilmann received military medical training at the medical-surgical Friedrich Wilhelms Institute in Berlin. The Friedrich-Wilhelms University in Berlin doctorate him in 1884 to Dr. med. At the Charité he was assistant to Heinrich Adolf von Bardeleben and Franz König .
In 1897 Tilmann became associate professor at the Royal University of Greifswald and headed the surgical outpatient clinic. In 1904 Tilmann accepted a call from the Cologne Academy for Practical Medicine, founded in 1904 . As a professor of surgery, he also took up a position as second senior physician in the Bürgerhospital and in the Augustahospital. In 1908 Tilmann became chief physician and head of the Lindenburg Surgical Clinic. In 1911 he was appointed a secret medical advisor, and in 1919 he became a full professor at the University of Cologne . For the academic year 1924/25 he was elected its rector . In 1926/27 he was dean of the medical faculty. In 1930 he retired .
