Otto Waack

Otto Waack (born August 3, 1926 in Lübeck , † May 17, 2000 in Rendsburg ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran theologian.

After completing his theological training, Otto Waack was ordained in 1953 and initially worked as a missionary for the Breklumer Mission and from 1957 to 1967 as director of the Theological College in Kotapad in India. He then became head of studies at the Mission Academy at the University of Hamburg . In 1970 he was accepted into the service of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hamburg and from then on worked as a Hanseatic mission representative. From 1974 to 1988 he was the department head for services, works, ecumenism and mission in the church office of the North Elbian Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kiel.

Furthermore, Waack had from 1971 to 1997 teaching assignments in missiology and religious studies and ecumenism, first at the University of Hamburg , later also at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel , most recently only there.

Then he retired as a senior church councilor.

Waack completed his habilitation in 1973 at the University of Hamburg and was appointed adjunct professor of missiology in 1979.
