Otto Wilhelm Beuthan

Otto Wilhelm Beuthan (born May 28, 1885 in Sternberg ; † March 22, 1965 in East Berlin ) was a German resistance fighter against National Socialism .

Life

Beuthan worked as a painter . During the First World War he served in Berlin. He was a party member in the SPD and in the Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold . According to his own statement, he was involved in the suppression of the Kapp Putsch . From 1931 he worked in the Friedrichshain district office , but was dismissed without notice after the seizure of power .

Despite his political opposition, he managed to find a job as a block administrator for the National Socialist People's Welfare . He also joined the National Socialist factory cell organization . He was a member of the Red Shock Troop and served as a sub-distributor for the left-wing socialist resistance group against National Socialism. However, his name was on a list that the Gestapo confiscated from Karl Zinn . Beuthan was arrested on December 11, 1933 and imprisoned in the Lehrter Strasse cell prison in Berlin-Moabit . On February 12, 1934, he was charged. On May 26, 1934, he was sentenced to two years' imprisonment for preparation for high treason. The pre-trial detention was fully credited and after a pardon he was released before Christmas 1935.

He then worked again as a block administrator for the National Socialist People's Welfare, but behaved more inconspicuously. After the Second World War he joined the KPD and eventually became a member of the SED .

He died in East Berlin in 1965.
