Otto Wurzburg , until about 1908 he wrote himself Würzburg, (born July 10, 1875 in Grand Rapids , Michigan, USA; † October 1, 1951 there ) was an American chess composer and at the same time a strong party player. He was a nephew of William Anthony Shinkman .

Wurzburg was from the first edition in January 1933 to December 1933 clerk of the composition corner in The Chess Review .

A number of spectacular chess compositions that have been reprinted time and again up to the present can be traced back to him. His name is mainly used today in connection with Wurzburg-Plachutta (also known as double-sided Holzhausen ). Template: checkerboard / maintenance / new

Solution:

1.… Tcd4 2. Qd5 !! The threat of 3.Nd7 can only be parried with 2.… Rxd5 , followed by 3.Nxg4 mate .

1.… Rdd4 2. Qe4 !! There is a threat of 3. Nxg4, and after 2.… Rxe4 , 3. Nd7 comes mate .

Secondary game: 1.… Nb5 2. Qc6 + Rxc6 / Nxc6 / Nd6 / Rd6 3. Nxg4 / Re6 / Nd7 / Nd7 mate.

The characteristic adjustment takes place in the first black move, the intersection is d4.
