Otto von Alberti (born September 23, 1834 in Wilhelmshall near Rottweil , † March 9, 1904 in Stuttgart ) was a German heraldist , historian and lawyer .

Life

Otto von Alberti, son of Friedrich von Alberti (1795–1878), was originally a lawyer (judge and attorney). In 1879 he got a job as a secretary at the State Archives in Stuttgart. There he later worked as the royal Württemberg secret archivist. He was a member of the Commission for Württemberg State History , the Association Committee of the State Collection of Patriotic Art and Antiquity Monuments, as well as the Württemberg History and Antiquity Association, and was knight of the first class of the Order of Frederick .

In 1889 he wrote the standard heraldic work Württemberg Adels- und Wappenbuch , which became known to a wide audience under the name "Alberti" .
