Johann Christoph Heinrich von Seydewitz
Johann Christoph Heinrich von Seydewitz (born October 26, 1748 in Friedrichsort near Kiel, † February 1, 1824 in Ludwigslust ) was a German officer in the Danish service and Mecklenburg court architect.
Life
After a career as an officer as an artillery captain, von Seydewitz worked as a building manager in 1787 for the master builder Carl Friedrich Bentschneider in the chamber council of the secret state ministry in Schwerin.
In 1796, in the service of Duke Friedrich Franz I of Mecklenburg , he was appointed successor to Johann Joachim Busch in Ludwigslust . At the head of the Hofbauamt von Seydewitz in Ludwigslust was not the personality of all too great, imaginative creativity and urban planning activity, measured against his predecessor Busch. After all, a larger building still bears witness to its activity in the Ludwigslust residence at that time. It is the Catholic Church, a brick sacral building in the romantic neo-Gothic period around 1800, the construction of which stood still for several years during the French era . At the inauguration on November 30, 1809, von Seydewitz was no longer in office.
He was given a full pension in 1808, and on February 21, 1809 Johann Georg Barca had already taken over his position as court architect. Seydewitz now devoted himself to topographical height measurements, which were first published in the state calendar for Mecklenburg-Schwerin from 1817.
Seydewitz 'sons are the Danish officer and painter Carl Christian von Seydewitz (1777-1857) and the Danish officer and painter dilettante Hans Joachim von Seydewitz († 1842).
