Ottokar Fischer (born November 10, 1873 in Leschan , Moravia , † December 1, 1940 in Vienna ) was an Austrian magician and for a long time president of the Magical Club Vienna .

Life

Ottokar Fischer started doing magic at the age of ten and gave his first public performance when he was eighteen. From 1898 Fischer headed the Kratky-Baschik-Theater in Vienna for a while. After the First World War , he devoted his life entirely to the history and research of magic, especially the work of Johann Nepomuk Hofzinser , whose tricks he described in the two books The Wonder Book of Magic (1929) and JN Hofzinser's Card Art (1910).

In 1933 Fischer was awarded the Johann Nepomuk Hofzinser Memorial Ring . In 2016, Ottokar-Fischer-Gasse in Vienna- Favoriten (10th district) was named after him.
