The Oulun Energia Areena (formerly Raksilan jäähalli ) is an ice rink in the Raksila district of the Finnish city of Oulu .
history
The Oulun Energia Areena was opened in 1974 under the name Raksilan Jäähalli and at that time held 7,600 spectators. Since then it has been rebuilt three times (1988, 1994 and 2004) and now only seats 6,614 spectators, 1,854 of which are standing and 4,760 are seated. The name change took place in 2006 after a contract with the local energy company Oulun Energia was concluded.
Sports
The Oulun Energia Areena is mainly used for ice hockey and is the home arena of the ice hockey clubs Oulun Kärpät and Kiekko-Laser .
