Out of the Silence is a song composed and written by Lloyd B. Norlin for the 1941 musical film All-American Co-Ed . In the film, lead actress Frances Langford performs it during a secret rehearsal for college girls, with the girls forming a backing choir. The song tells of the fact that sounds come out of the silence, spread and trigger a feeling of satisfaction, especially when a loved one is around and the anger disappears, because the sound of your voice comes out of the silence and brings the heart forward Joy to shout.

1942 was Out of the Silence in the category "Best Song" for a Oscar nomination. However, the award went to Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II for their song The Last Time I Saw Paris from the musical film Lady Be Good .
