The outback nunatakkers are a series of un-iced nunatakkers and mountains in East Antarctica, Victoria Land . They are distributed south of the Emlen Peaks and west of the Monument Nunatakker and the upper Rennick Glacier over an area of 60 km in length and 30 km in width and border on the polar plateau .
They were discovered by a US team to explore the Victoria Land between 1959 and 1960. The United States Geological Survey mapped them based on their own measurements and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1959 to 1964. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them 1970 for its remote geographical location on the other side of the great mountain ranges of the Transantarctic Mountains , which extend from the Ross Sea into the interior of the country.
