Ouyang Nana (Chinese: 歐陽 娜娜; pinyin: Ōuyáng Nànà; born June 15, 2000 in Taipei , Taiwan ), also known as Nana Ou-yang or Na-Na Ou-yang , is a Taiwanese musician and actress who worked as Cellist and best known for her film roles in the coming-of-age love film Secret Fruit (Chinese: 秘 果) and the cyber-punk action film Bleeding Steel (Chinese: 機器 之 血) starring Jackie Chan .

Career

Ouyang Nana is the daughter of Taiwanese actor and later Taipei City Councilor Ouyang Long and actress Sunny Fu. She was born in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, in 2000.

Musical career

Inspired by the cellist Mei-Ying Liao , Ouyang Nana began playing the guitar at the age of four , the piano at the age of five, and the cello at the age of six . She won first place in cello and guitar and second place in piano at the Wenhua Taiwan Cup Music Competition in Taiwan. In 2008 she started attending the music program at Dun-Hua Elementary School and graduated with honors in 2012.

In 2010 she was admitted to the Affiliated Junior High School of the National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU; Chinese: 國立 臺灣 師範大學; pinyin: Guólì Táiwān Shīfàn Dàxué). In the same year she became the principal cellist of the Century Youth Orchestra. In 2011 she took first place in the “Grand Taiwan National Music Competition” in the cello and string quartet categories and first place in the “National Music Competition of Taiwan”. She has also participated in the National Cello Institute Summer Festival in the USA and in 2011 in the Salut Summer Festival in Taitung .

In 2012, Ouyang became the youngest cellist to make a solo recital debut in the Concert Hall of Taiwan. In the same year she won the First Award at the Taiwan School Year 100 National Music Competition and was accepted into the Junior High Music Program of the National Taiwan Normal University. In 2013, Ouyang began attending the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia . She gave a series of sold out concerts in Taiwan and was invited by the Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa in Japan to play in one of their concerts. In 2015 she left the Curtis Institute of Music. She signed to Universal Music Group's Mercury Classics label and released her classic solo debut album 15 . In 2016 she released her first single "Warming Your Winter" for her first television drama Yes! Mr. Fashion , produced by mandop producer Jim Lee.

In 2017 she released her second album, Cello Loves Disney . In December, she appeared at the Science Academy Awards, where she performed a rendition of "See You Again" alongside American rapper Wiz Khalifa . Ouyang was the first Asian woman (and even the first person from Asia) to appear at the event.

Film career

In the film field, Ouyang Nana first attracted attention in 2014 with her appearance in the romance film Beijing Love Story , where she played as a cellist. She then starred in the sports film To the Fore , where she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role at the Macau International Film Festival .

In 2016 she started filming the science fiction film, Bleeding Steel with Jackie Chan . In the same year she made her debut in the romantic comedy Ja! Mr. Fashion with Chen Xuedong . In 2017 she was cast as the female lead in the youth film Secret Fruit , based on the novel by Rao Xueman .

In 2018, she was cast as the female lead in the fantasy adventure drama The Great Ruler starring Roy Wang .

In September 2018, Ouyang Nana resumed her music studies, this time at Berklee College of Music in Boston , Massachusetts .
