Ouzo Bazooka is a psychedelic indie rock band from Tel Aviv , Israel .

Band history

The band was founded in Tel Aviv in 2013 and released their debut album of the same name in 2014 under the distribution of Helicon Music. It was released on CD and vinyl in Israel and also on the Tuff Beats label in Japan. Two years later, after extensive touring in their own country, the next album Simoom followed on Setalight Records in Berlin. At the beginning of 2019 came the third album, Transporter , which, after the band's numerous international appearances at festivals, received positive reviews in Germany in advance. It was released in Great Britain on indie label Stolen Body Records and for the Middle East on Istanbul label Tantana Records . The small French indie label Slice Of Wax Records also released one single in 2015, 2016 and 2019, and two on Stolen Body Records in 2018.

Of the original band members, the Israeli based American bassist Adam Scheflan left the group after the second album and bassist Dor Koren after the third. The current line-up consists of keyboard player Dani Ever-HaDani, singer Yurika Hanashima, drummer Ira Raviv and front man and guitarist Uri Brauner Kinrot. With the exception of a few cover versions, all compositions of all three albums are from Kinrot. For the lyrics, however, he had Allan Moon write three lyrics on the Transporter . Kinrot also took on the studio work of recording, mixing and producing on the Transporter himself. He only left the mastering to the Californian sound engineer Tim Green. In addition to the main vocal part, the multi-instrumentalist Kinrot brings various electric guitars to the sound as well as occasional percussion, bass and keyboards. He is the mastermind and band leader , without whom nothing would go on in this musical project.

style

The psychedelic indie rock by Ouzo Bazooka , reminiscent of seventies surf rock , is pretty danceable. All band members are allowed to sing backing vocals , so that harmony vocals emerge. Light melodic colors with oriental decorations and rhythms give the sound a little Middle East feeling. The basis is good old blues rock .
