Setalight is a Berlin independent label and publisher that describes itself as genre-open.

history

Setalight was founded in 2003 as Setalight Records by Andreas Voland to release his own band Samavayo . In the following years various publications appeared, including the independent music sampler Berliner Ring with bands from the Berlin rock scene such as B. RotoR , Ojo Rojo, The Ocean , Samavayo, Liquid Visions. In the following years Setalight established itself as an underground label for hard guitar music and psychedelic rock . Bands like Stonebride from Croatia or the Weimar band Born To Hula released their albums as records and compact discs on Setalight.

In 2011 Voland merged with Christian Molle and Dominik Giese to form a civil law company and changed the name to Setalight. In the same year, a distribution partnership with Rough Trade Distribution began , which was terminated in 2014. In the same year, Setalight expanded its sales structures and since then has also acted as sales. In 2012, Dominik Giese retired as the main shareholder.

The label has been a member of the Association of Independent Music Companies and part of the Berlin Music Commission network since 2011 . Setalight has also been a music and book publisher since 2012 . In 2013 and 2014, the two sub-labels Kulturkatze, Pearl Division and Narayanjot Records were founded in order to better present the range of music styles. Narayanjot Records releases meditation music and mantras. Since 2013 its own label festival has been held under the name Setalight Festival. The festival takes place once a year.
