Mojo Jazz Mob is a German stoner rock band that was founded in 1997 in Münster / Sendenhorst .

Band history

The band Mojo Jazz Mob was founded in 1997 by Martin Tollkötter and Björn Gottmann, later Adrian Busen, Michael Weisser and Timo Hurtig joined them. In the following years she produced several demos and had numerous appearances before releasing her first official album in 2007 with Pacific Daybreak - Broken Nights on the independent label Swamp Room Records. In the same year the band took part in the Rock am Ring band contest . According to the music magazine Vampster , the album can be classified as “stoner rock with a good portion of rock'n'roll”, “which you can still hear a youthful freshness with every note”. The reviewer draws parallels to Fu Manchu and Kyuss , but certifies that the band has a “necessary degree of independence”. He compares individual songs with old recordings by Black Sabbath and Thin Lizzy and assigns individual guitar riffs to the New Wave of British Heavy Metal .

In 2009, the successor to the Black Desert Inn label followed with Westfalenwalze . The album and the band were compared in a review with Entombed 's Same Difference and Gorilla Monsoon . Vampster describes the album as more brutal than its predecessor and identifies the bands Fu Manchu and Orange Goblin as role models , while at the same time comparing the song Horned Winged Creatures From Hell with the title Woman From Tokyo by Deep Purple . They draw further parallels to Corrosion of Conformity , Leadfoot and Roadsaw as well as to Thin Lizzy and Santana in individual songs .

The band has been playing with the two drummers Constantin Krass (formerly with Royal Post) and Till Junker (formerly with Cotton Candy Queen) since 2011. In June 2014, ... still hunting, the band's current album was released on Setalight Records .

Discography

Mojo Jazz Mob has released several demo albums since its inception and was featured on several samplers. In 2007 the band released their first official album, Pacific Daybreak - Broken Nights , followed by their last album, Westfalenwalze , in 2009 .
