Craig Cobb

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Craig Paul Cobb (born October 9, 1951 in Maryville , Missouri ) is a neo-Nazi American activist. Cobb represents anti-Semitic standpoints and advocates a “ holy race war ” (racial holy war) in order to achieve supremacy of the Aryan population. He is wanted by Canadian law enforcement for "hate speech" and has been banned from entering Estonia for ten years .

Life

Craig Cobb attended school in Boston , then the military, worked as a cab driver in Hawaii and ran a grocery store in the village of Frost , West Virginia . From there he delivered, among other things, neo-Nazi material to school children (“Project Schoolyard”).

With the money from an inheritance, Cobb moved to Tallinn in Estonia in 2005 to build a “white diaspora” near the city. Cobb was arrested, expelled from the country and deported to Canada in 2009 because of his racist activities and an interview for his blog with the former swastika- wearing employee of the Estonian Ministry of Justice, Raigo Sõlg, whom he described as the "leader of Estonian Nazis". In 2010 he was arrested in Vancouver for hate speech (violation of the human rights clause in Canadian criminal law). Cobb was released for the time being, went to the USA and, contrary to the conditions, did not report back to Canada.

Craig Cobb then attracted attention by trying to create an enclave for like-minded people in the small village of Leith , North Dakota . He threatened on his blog that as soon as the “white supremacy” in the local government of Leith had been achieved, “left-wing journalists or antis […] who come and cause trouble” would be arrested. The events surrounding the takeover attempt up to its trial were portrayed by Michael Beach Nichols and Christopher K. Walker in their documentary Welcome to Leith , which premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival . After a six-month jail sentence, Cobb gave up the project. In 2015 it was announced that he would instead be making a new attempt in the 28-inhabitant city of Antler (North Dakota) .

In 2013, Cobb underwent genetic testing for a TV show. The result that he had 14% sub-Saharan African genes was announced on a US talk show on which he was a guest. In the same broadcast, Cobb rejected this result as “statistical noise”.

literature

The German writer Markus K. Korb chose the settlement of neo-Nazis in Leith as a real background for his fictional horror story AmeriKKan GotiK from 2017.
