The Ovčín (German Woftschin ) is an elevation on the southern edge of the left Elbe Bohemian Central Mountains , west of Lovosice .

character

The basalt mountain consists of a ridge running from northeast to southwest. This is almost horizontal in the summit area for a length of approx. 200 m and drops off quite steeply to the southeast and northwest. The slopes are mostly overgrown by deciduous forest; bushes dominate the summit, which allows a good view in all directions.

history

The east side of the mountain was the scene of the first fighting in the Seven Years' War , the Battle of Lobositz , in 1756 .

Paths to the summit

There are no marked hiking trails on the Ovčín. It can be reached on various small paths, which are from the green marked path between Vchynice and Třebenice , which runs along the south-eastern foot of the mountain.
