Overdose is a Brazilian thrash metal band from Belo Horizonte , Minas Gerais , that was formed in 1983.
history
The band was founded in 1983 by bassist Fernando Pazzini, guitarist Cláudio David, singer Pedro Amorim “Bozó”, drummer Helio Eduardo and guitarist Ricardo Souza. In the same year they released their first demo with Ultima Estrela Demo. In 1985 they released Século XX / Bestial Devastation, a split LP with Sepultura . It was also the first LP released by Cogumelo Records .
In 1987 they released their first album called Conscience . The next album followed with You're Really Big! in 1989. This album was later to be re-mastered.
In 1990 the band recorded the album Addicted to Reality , which was followed by Circus of Death in 1992. A remastered version was also released later.
Progress of Decadence was recorded in 1993 and released on the US label Futurist Records . The publication was followed by a world tour, with a particular focus on the United States. They released their last album so far with Scars in 1995.
style
Overdose's contributions to the split LP Século XX / Bestial Devastation are reminiscent of "[s] in parts [...] of a mixture of old SLAYER , HALLOWS EVE and the first IRON MAIDEN discs". The band plays classic Thrash Metal, with the guitar riffs described as progressive. The band's lyrics are political in nature.
