Owaab Barrow gained his first international experience in 2018 at the Junior Asian Championships in Gifu , where he finished sixth in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.11 s. So he qualified for the U20 World Championships in Tampere and got there to the semi-finals, in which he was eliminated with 14.05 s. In addition, he could not qualify for the final with the Qatari 4 x 100 meter relay with 41.35 s. With the relay he also took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta , but did not reach the finals there with 41.03 s. In mid-October he took part in the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires , where he won the gold medal with two victories. The following year he took part in the Asian Championships in Doha for the first time, but retired there in the first round in both the hurdles sprint with 14.67 s and the relay with 40.17 s. At the home world championships in Doha at the end of September, he was allowed to start in the 100-meter run thanks to a wildcard and was eliminated there with 12.82 seconds in the preliminary round .
