3,5,9-Oxa-1-undecanamine contains oxygen atoms in positions 3, 5 and 9 of the parent compound 1-undecanamine, each of which replaces a methylene group - CH 2 - .

Oxa - (from the Latin oxygenium , 'oxygen') is a prefix used for chemical compounds in which a carbon atom has been replaced by an oxygen atom. The number preceding the name indicates which carbon atom has been replaced.
