The tenant house is a listed building in Dessau-Roßlau in Saxony-Anhalt . The Alte Schäferei restaurant is operated in-house.

location

It is located diagonally across from the Christ Church on the south side of Kirchstrasse in the Ziebigk district of Dessau at the address Kirchstrasse 1. To the west of the building is Brunnenstrasse.

Architecture and history

The half-timbered house was built according to a building inscription in 1743. It is the oldest preserved building in Ziebigk. Christoph Krüger owned the building from 1845 to 1900. After a long period of vacancy and deterioration, the Stadtsparkasse Dessau acquired the building in 1999 and completely renovated it. From 2001, upscale gastronomy was offered in the building. The magazine Der Feinschmecker ranked the restaurant among the 500 best in Germany . Operations ceased at the end of 2017. After a two-month renovation, in May 2018, following on from the previous upscale concept, the operation was continued by new operators and under the name of Alte Schäferei , with the name of the tenant house still being used in the company name.

In the local register of monuments , the tenant house is listed as a historical building under registration number 094 40106 .
