Péter Gáncs

Péter Gáncs (born May 24, 1954 in Budapest ) is a Lutheran theologian , former bishop of the Hungarian southern diocese and from 2011 to 2018 head bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hungary .

Life

Gáncs studied Protestant theology at the Evangelical Lutheran Theological University in Budapest . After finishing his studies he worked as a pastor in Hungary . Gáncs was Lutheran Bishop of the Southern Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hungary from 2003 to 2018 and also its Leading Bishop from 2011. His successors in office were in 2018: Péter Kondor as diocesan bishop and Tamás Fabiny as leading bishop.
