Life

Zilahy has made a name for himself as a prose writer, poet, performer, photographer and editor of an international literary debut series. His novel The Last Window Giraffe (Original: Az utolsó ablakzsiráf , 1998, Ab Ovo-Verlag) was published in German by Eichborn Verlag in 2004 , in a translation by Terézia Mora . In this work, Zilahy reviews the history of the Eastern European dictatorships in the 20th century from the perspective of a child. The title alludes to the children's lexicon Ablak-Zsiráf , which was very popular in Hungary in the 1970s. The Austrian theater director Martin Kušej used a well-known and often cited part of this book for his production of König Ottokars Glück und Ende (2005), in which the history of the European revolutions is summarized backwards.

From 2008 to 2009 Zilahy was the town clerk of Graz .
