history

The place is first mentioned in the 8th century. In a deed of donation, Duke Hugibert handed over his court in Pirichenwanc to the St. Emmeram monastery in Regensburg around 730 . The fact that the Bavarian ducal house was wealthy here suggests that the area was a cultivated settlement area as early as Roman times. The Celts lived here before the Romans and various finds testify to a settlement that goes back far beyond the Celtic era.

According to a record, the Regensburg Cathedral Monastery was already wealthy in the town in 874. At that time, Count Rodolt exchanged property with Bishop Ambricho . Noble von Pirchenwang appear in the 12th and 13th centuries. In 1271, Hänslinus von Lauterbach received the Hofmark Pürkwang as a fief through an exchange and feudal contract with the Regensburg Bishop Leo Thundorfer and created the larger Hofmark Wildenberg, which with minor deviations corresponds to today's municipal area by adding smaller court brands and localities.

In 1462, knight Hans Ebran von Wildenberg donated, out of gratitude that he had returned victorious and healthy from a war, first a bell for the old church and then initiated the construction of the current church. When the municipality of Wildenberg was created from the former Hofmark Wildenberg in 1818, the district of Pürkwang was created, which has since grown together with Wildenberg.
