Sonnenscheid is a district of the community of Schalksmühle in the Märkisches Kreis in the administrative district of Arnsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

The living space is located between the Mesekendahler Bachtal and the Nahmer Bachtal east of the federal motorway 45 on the municipal boundary to Nachrodt-Wiblingwerde .

Neighboring places in the municipality are Winkeln , Winklerheide , Vormwald , Mesekendahl , Brake and Wersbecke , as well as Hahn , Haste and Waldstück in the municipality of Nachrodt-Wiblingwerde.

Sonnenscheid from the Nahmer Bachtal

Until the 19th century, Sonnenscheid belonged to the farming community of Winkeln in the parish of Hülscheid . From 1816 the place was part of the municipality of Hülscheid in the mayor's office Halver in the Altena district , in 1818 18 people lived in the place. According to the locality and distance table of the government district of Arnsberg, the place called Sonscheid and categorized as a courtyard had seven houses and three agricultural buildings in 1839. At that time, 49 residents lived in the village, all of whom were evangelicals.

In 1844 the municipality of Hülscheid with Sonnscheid was split off from the Halver office and assigned to the newly established Lüdenscheid office .

The place is recorded on the Prussian first recording from 1840 under the name Sonnenscheid . From the Prussian new admission of 1892, the place is recorded on the TK25 measuring table as a sun sheath.

The municipality and district statistics of the province of Westphalia in 1871 list the place with nine houses and 50 inhabitants. The community encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia in 1885 gives a number of 54 inhabitants for Sonnenscheid who lived in eight houses. In 1895 the place had eight houses with 48 inhabitants, in 1905 seven houses and 46 inhabitants are given.

In 1969, the municipalities of Hülscheid and Schalksmühle were merged to form an unofficial municipality ( unitary municipality ) of Schalksmühle in the Altena district, and Sonnenscheid has since been politically part of Schalksmühle, which became part of the newly created Märkische Kreis in 1975 due to the Sauerland / Paderborn law .
