Reeswinkel is a larger district in Schalksmühle in the Märkisches Kreis in the administrative district of Arnsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

It consists of the Oberreeswinkel , Mittelreeswinkel and Niederreeswinkel residential areas .

Location and description

Reeswinkel is located northwest of the town center on the plateau between the Glörtal , the Hälvertal and the Volmetal . Neighboring towns are, besides the core town Auf dem Mühlenfeld , Asenbach , Mathagen , Mollsiepen , Löh , Am Neuenhaus , Glör , Am Hagen , Ölken and Dahlerbrück .

As a farm, Mittelreeswinkel is still spatially separated from the other districts by agricultural land, as is Oberreeswinkel. Over time, the Niederreeswinkel farm has developed into a larger residential area with dense buildings, which can be accessed through the streets Reeswinkeler Weg and Unterm Ried .

history

Oberreeswinkel was first mentioned in a document in 1592, but the time of origin of the settlement is assumed to be between 693 and 750 in the time of the second Saxon conquest. Thus Oberreeswinkel would be one of the early settlements in Halver and Schalksmühle. The place is a split from Rotthausen .

Mittelreeswinkel was first mentioned in a document in 1592, but the time of origin of the settlement is presumed to be between 1300 and 1400 following the second medieval clearing period. The place is a split from Oberreeswinkel.

Niederreeswinkel, also called Unterste Reeswinkel, was first mentioned in 1705 as Unterste Reeswinkel and was probably founded between 1600 and 1700. The place is also a split from Oberreeswinkel.

In 1818, 29 residents lived in the three residential areas in Reeswinkel. According to the location and distance table of the government district of Arnsberg , the place was categorized as a farm and in 1838 had a population of 74, all of whom were Protestant. At that time, the place belonged to the Glörfeld peasantry within the parish and the mayor's office of Halver and owned twelve houses, a factory or mill and three agricultural buildings.

The three Reeswinkel living spaces are recorded as Reeswinkel on the Prussian first recording from 1840 . From the Prussian New Admissions of 1892, the locations are initially listed together on the TK25 measurement table as Reeswinkel, from the 1921 edition Ober , Mittel and Niederreeswinkel or Unterste Reeswinkel are labeled separately.

The municipality and estate district statistics of the province of Westphalia listed the place as a colony with ten houses and 98 inhabitants in 1871 . The community encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia from 1887 gives a number of 118 inhabitants who lived in 15 houses. In 1895 the place had 22 houses with 203 inhabitants and belonged to the evangelical parish Schalksmühle, in 1905 26 houses and 288 inhabitants are given for Ober-, Mittel- and Niederreeswinkel.

On October 1, 1912, the area around the place was spun off from the municipality of Halver and assigned to the newly founded municipality of Schalksmühle.

In the middle of the 20th century, a sports field was created near Niederreeswinkel, which had to give way to expanding housing developments in the 1970s. The original Niederreeswinkel courtyard buildings at the apex of a curve on Niederreeswinkeler Weg were also replaced by new buildings.
