history

Until the 19th century, Muhle belonged to the western farmers of the Hülscheid parish . From 1816 the place was part of the municipality of Hülscheid in the mayor's office Halver in the Altena district , in 1818 57 people lived in the place. The place categorized as a courtyard according to the location and distance table of the government district Arnsberg had eleven residential buildings and 15 agricultural buildings under the name Muhl in 1839 . At that time, 61 residents lived in the village, including one Catholic and 60 Evangelical denominations.

In 1844 the municipality of Hülscheid with Muhle was split off from the Halver Office and assigned to the newly established Lüdenscheid Office .

The place is recorded in the Prussian first recording from 1840 as Hof Muhl . From the Prussian new admission of 1892, the place is recorded on the TK25 measuring table as a mill .

The municipality and district statistics of the province of Westphalia in 1871 listed the place as a farm with 14 houses and 99 inhabitants. The municipality encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia in 1885 gives a number of 78 inhabitants for Muhle who lived in ten houses. In 1895 the place had 13 houses with 85 inhabitants, in 1905 13 houses and 87 inhabitants are given.

In 1969, the municipalities of Hülscheid and Schalksmühle were merged to form an unofficial municipality ( unitary municipality ) of Schalksmühle in the Altena district and since then Muhle has belonged politically to Schalksmühle, which in 1975 became part of the newly created Märkische Kreis due to the Sauerland / Paderborn law .
