history

Lauenscheiderohl belonged to the middle of the peasantry of the parish Hülscheid until the 19th century . From 1816 the place was part of the municipality of Hülscheid in the mayor's office of Halver in the Altena district , in 1818 nine residents lived in the place. The place, which was categorized as a courtyard according to the location and distance table of the government district of Arnsberg , owned two residential buildings, two factories and two agricultural buildings under the name Ohl (Lauenscheider) in 1839 . At that time, 13 residents lived in the village, all of whom were evangelicals.

In 1844 the municipality of Hülscheid with Lauenscheiderohl was split off from the Halver Office and assigned to the newly established Lüdenscheid Office .

The place is recorded on the Prussian first recording from 1840 under the name Lauenscheider Ohl . The town's hammer mill is also marked on the Volme. From the Prussian new admission of 1892, the place is recorded on the TK25 measuring table as Lauenscheiderohl .

The municipality and estate district statistics of the province of Westphalia in 1871 listed the place as a farm under the name Lauenscheiderohl with six houses and 75 inhabitants. The municipality lexicon for the province of Westphalia in 1885 gives a number of 101 residents for Lauenscheiderohl who lived in nine houses. In 1895 the place had ten houses with 114 inhabitants, in 1905 eleven houses and 125 inhabitants are given.

In the 1870s / 80s, the Hagen – Dieringhausen railway line was built between the farm and the hammer mill .

In 1969, the municipalities of Hülscheid and Schalksmühle were merged to form the large municipality ( unified municipality ) of Schalksmühle in the Altena district and since then Lauenscheiderohl has belonged politically to Schalksmühle, which in 1975 became part of the newly created Märkische Kreis due to the Sauerland / Paderborn law .

In the last third of the 20th century, the location of the old Lauenscheiderohler Hof (north of the railway line) was leveled, the buildings at the former hammer mill site were demolished and its reservoir (both south of the railway line) drained. The grounds of the residential area and the former hammer mill were used by the Albrecht Jung company's parking lots and factory buildings.
