From 1816 the place was part of the municipality Hülscheid in the mayor's office Halver in the Altena district , in 1818 54 inhabitants lived in the place. The place, categorized as a courtyard according to the location and distance table of the government district Arnsberg , had ten residential houses and seven agricultural buildings in 1839. At that time 65 inhabitants lived in the place, all of them evangelical denominations.

In 1844 the municipality of Hülscheid with Reineberge was split off from the Halver office and assigned to the newly established Lüdenscheid office .

The place is recorded on the Prussian first recording from 1840 under the name Reinenberg . From the Prussian new admission in 1892, the location is recorded on the TK25 measuring table as Reineberge .

The municipality and estate district statistics of the province of Westphalia in 1871 listed the place under the name Reineberge with ten houses and 64 inhabitants. The municipality lexicon for the province of Westphalia in 1885 gives a number of 53 residents for Reineberge who lived in nine houses. In 1895 the place had five houses with 49 inhabitants, in 1905 eight houses and 61 inhabitants are given.

In 1969, the municipalities of Hülscheid and Schalksmühle were merged to form an unofficial municipality ( unitary municipality ) of Schalksmühle in the Altena district and since then Reineberge has belonged politically to Schalksmühle, which in 1975 became part of the newly created Märkische Kreis due to the Sauerland / Paderborn law .
