history

Mesekendahl belonged to the peasantry corners of the parish of Hülscheid until the 19th century . From 1816 the place was part of the municipality of Hülscheid in the mayor's office of Halver in the Altena district , in 1818 nine residents lived in the place. The place categorized as Kotten according to the place and distance table of the government district Arnsberg had a residential house, a factory or mill and an agricultural building in 1839. At that time, 26 residents lived in the village, all of whom were evangelicals.

In 1844 the municipality of Hülscheid with Mesekendahl was split off from the Halver office and assigned to the newly established Lüdenscheid office .

The place is recorded on the Prussian first recording from 1840 under the name Mesekendahl . From the Prussian new admission in 1892, the place is recorded on the TK25 measuring table until the middle of the 20th century as Meseckendahl , from the 1955 edition as Mesekendahl .

The municipal and Gutbezirksstatistik the province of Westphalia leads Mesekendahl 1871 with two houses and nine residents. The municipality lexicon for the province of Westphalia in 1885 gives a number of 16 inhabitants for Mesekendahl who lived in two houses. In 1895 the place had two houses with 15 inhabitants, in 1905 two houses and 14 inhabitants are given.

In 1969, the municipalities of Hülscheid and Schalksmühle were merged to form an unofficial municipality ( unitary municipality ) of Schalksmühle in the Altena district, and Mesekendahl has since been politically part of Schalksmühle, which became part of the newly created Märkische Kreis in 1975 due to the Sauerland / Paderborn law .
