history

The name probably goes back to a field name (on the) stems (bushes).

Strücken, which initially belonged to the parish of Halver , was first mentioned in a document in 1509. The time of origin of today's settlement is assumed to be between 1400 and 1500 as a result of the late medieval expansion period. Strücken is a split from the Wippekühl farm or possibly also the Halverscheid farm .

In 1818 eight residents lived in the village. 1838, the village belonged under the name shrubs of Oeckinghauser peasantry within the mayoralty Halver on. The place categorized as Kotten according to the place and distance table of the government district Arnsberg had a residential house and two agricultural buildings at that time. At that time there were five residents living in the village, all of whom were Protestant.

The place is recorded as unlabeled on the Prussian first recording from 1840. From the Prussian new admission of 1892, the place is recorded on the TK25 measuring table as Strücken .

The municipality and estate district statistics of the province of Westphalia listed the place as a colony with three houses and 16 inhabitants in 1871 . The municipality lexicon for the province of Westphalia in 1885 gives a number of 26 inhabitants for Stephansohl who lived in two houses. In 1895 the place had five houses with 37 inhabitants and belonged to the evangelical parish Schalksmühle, in 1905 the place had three houses and 16 inhabitants.

On October 1, 1912, the area around the place was spun off from the municipality of Halver and assigned to the newly founded municipality of Schalksmühle.
