Jörg Herold

Jörg Herold (born May 3, 1965 in Leipzig ) is a German visual artist .

From 1986 to 1988 he completed his apprenticeship as a plasterer and from 1987 to 1990 he studied painting at the University of Graphic Arts and Book Art in Leipzig and at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art . He took part in Documenta X 1997 in Kassel and in the Venice Biennale in 1995. His installation Lichtschleife mit Datumslinie is in the outer courtyard of the Paul-Löbe-Haus , a new parliament building north of the Reichstag building .

In 1999 he received the art prize of the Leipziger Volkszeitung , which is linked to an exhibition in the Museum of Fine Arts in Leipzig and a catalog.

In 2003 he and his partner Jacqueline Richard had a daughter.

In 2005 the city ​​of Wolfsburg awarded him the Prize for Young City Looks Young Art . For 2017/2018 he was awarded a scholarship at the Villa Massimo in Rome.

Herold lives in Mecklenburg and Berlin.
