Klagebach is a district in the municipality of Schalksmühle in the Märkisches Kreis in the administrative district of Arnsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

The district extends as a street settlement northwest of the center along the county road K36 in the valley of the Great Klagebach from its mouth in the Volme up to the level of the Waldesruh settlement . The settlement in the valley floor is framed by the Ziegenberg in the north and the Bocksberg in the south.

Originally, the residential area consisted of only a few residential buildings and businesses in the lower area at the entrance to the Volmetal. In the course of time, the settlement area expanded upstream , primarily through the expansion of the local manufacturing companies , including the Berker company , and also included the previously independent residential area of Klagebacherhammer on the route .

Today the local area of Klagebach forms one of the larger districts of Schalksmühle.

Other neighboring towns in the Schalksmühler municipality are, in addition to the core town, the residential areas and towns of Oberklagebach , Grünental , Lauenscheid , Stallhaus , Hütte , Flaßkamp , Neuenbrücke , Wippekühl , Unterwippekühl , Unterworth , Dahlhausen , Am Neuenhaus and Löh .

history

Klagebach did not emerge until the second half of the 19th century; according to the Prussian first recording of 1840 , the Bachtal was still uninhabited in the middle of the century . From the Prussian new admission in 1892, the location is marked on the TK25 measuring table and also labeled as Klagebach. The municipality lexicon for the province of Westphalia in 1885 gives a number of 38 inhabitants for Klagebach who lived in four houses. In 1895 the place had four houses with 32 inhabitants, in 1905 18 houses and 286 inhabitants are given.

In the 1950 / 60s, Klagebach laid out today's Schulstrasse and erected a school building that is part of the Huette settlement area. The building is now used as a workshop for disabled people .

In the 1960s, parts of the original settlement including a reservoir with a transformer station were rebuilt.

In 1969, the municipalities of Hülscheid and Schalksmühle were merged to form the large municipality ( unified municipality ) of Schalksmühle in the Altena district, and Lauenscheiderohl has since been politically part of Schalksmühle, which in 1975 became part of the newly created Märkische Kreis due to the Sauerland / Paderborn law .

In the course of the 20th century, the place expanded continuously along the Great Klagebach and the district road to the size of the settlement today.
