The district is located on the western slope of the Volmetal above Twieströmen, downstream from Dahlerbrück on the city limits of Breckerfeld and Hagen . In the course of time the settlement area shifted southwards, so that the place of the original settlement is undeveloped today.

history

Until the 19th century, Schlüchtern belonged to the Bühren peasantry of the parish of Breckerfeld . From 1816 the place was part of the country church Breckerfeld in the mayor's office Breckerfeld in the district of Hagen . The place is not labeled on the Prussian first recording from 1840. From the Prussian new admission of 1892, the place is listed on the TK25 measuring table as Schlüchtern .

The municipality and estate district statistics of the province of Westphalia in 1871 listed the place as a farm under the name Schlüchtern with one house and six residents. The municipality encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia in 1885 gives Im Schlüchtern a number of seven inhabitants who lived in two houses. In 1895 the place has a house with three residents.

The rural community of Breckerfeld with Schlüchtern was combined with the town of Breckerfeld in 1899 to form the expanded town of Breckerfeld. In 1905 two houses and 47 inhabitants are given.

On January 1, 1970, as part of the municipal reorganization in North Rhine-Westphalia, due to the law to reorganize the Ennepe-Ruhr district, a larger local area was split off at Im Dahl von Breckerfeld and incorporated into Schalksmühle. Since then Schlüchtern belongs politically to Schalksmühle, which in 1975 became part of the newly created Märkischer Kreis due to the Sauerland / Paderborn law .
