history

Westhöhe is a young district and was not created until the middle of the 20th century. The place was part of the community Hülscheid in office Lüdenscheid in county Altena . The place is first recorded on the 1942 edition of the TK25 measurement table under the name Westhöh .

In the 1920s / 30s, today's national road 561 was laid north past the place.

In 1969, the municipalities of Hülscheid and Schalksmühle were merged to form the large municipality ( unitary municipality ) , which was free of charge, in the Altena district, and Westhöhe has since been politically part of Schalksmühle, which in 1975 became part of the newly created Märkisches Kreis due to the Sauerland / Paderborn law .

In the last third of the 20th century the settlement began to grow in a south-westerly direction. The new building area was opened up via the old route of the road connection to Klagebach , which was converted into a dead-end street with the name Westhöhe after the construction of the K36 district road .

In the 1970s, the gaps between Westhöhe and the expanding residential areas Ramsloh and Spormecke also closed, so that a closed settlement area was created.
