Wippekühl is a residential area in Schalksmühle in the Märkisches Kreis in the administrative district of Arnsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Wippekühl is located southeast of the town center on the northern flank of the Worthberg above the Volmetal .

The place is known regionally for the listed farmhouse Wippekühl . It was built around 1600 on the basis of an investigation by the Office for the Preservation of Monuments and, due to its almost unchanged state of construction and its rare construction, is one of the last testimonies of rural culture in Westphalia from this time.

The building is used as an event room, on the outside areas and the haylofts, numerous devices and exhibits of the former rural living conditions are presented.

history

Wippekühl was first mentioned in a document in 1460 as Wippekühling , but the origin of the settlement ( -ing -form) is assumed to be between 500 and 550 as a result of the first Saxon conquest.

In 1818 18 people lived in Wippekühl. According to the location and distance table of the government district of Arnsberg , the place was categorized as a farm and in 1838 had a population of 20, all of whom were Protestant. At that time, the place belonged to the Oeckingfeld peasantry within the mayor's office of Halver and owned three residential buildings and five agricultural buildings.

The place is recorded on the Prussian first recording from 1840 as Wipperkühl . From the Prussian new admission in 1892, the place is recorded on the TK25 measuring table as a rocker cooler .

The municipality and district statistics of the province of Westphalia listed the place as a colony with two houses and 20 inhabitants in 1871 . The municipality encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia from 1887 gives a number of 17 residents who lived in two houses. In 1895 the place had four houses with 40 inhabitants and belonged to the evangelical parish Schalksmühle, in 1905 six houses and 52 inhabitants are given.

On October 1, 1912, the area around the place was spun off from the municipality of Halver and assigned to the newly founded municipality of Schalksmühle.
