The district is located on Kreisstraße 10 in Glörtal on the city limits of Breckerfeld . At the village, the entrance to the Glörtalsperre branches off from the district road.

Starting from the residential area , Glör developed into a loosely built-up street settlement along the district road, in which businesses have also settled.

history

Glör was initially in the area north of the Glörbach part of the Breckerfeld rural church in the Breckerfeld mayor in the district of Hagen and in the area south of the Glörbach part of the Glörfeld peasantry in the Halver mayor in the Altena district . From the Prussian new admission in 1892, the place is recorded on the TK25 measuring table as Glör .

According to the locality and distance table of the government district of Arnsberg , the Halveraner sub-town was categorized as a hammer mill and in 1838 had three manufacturing plants or mills. The Breckerfeld area north of the Glörbach was not settled until the second half of the 19th century.

The municipality and estate district statistics of the province of Westphalia in 1871 listed the place as a farm with one house and twelve residents. The community encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia in 1885 gives a number of 15 inhabitants for Gloer who lived in three houses. In 1895 the place had two houses with 22 inhabitants.

The rural community of Breckerfeld with Glör was combined with the town of Breckerfeld in 1899 to form the expanded town of Breckerfeld. In 1905 four houses and 41 residents were given.

On October 1, 1912, the area south of the Glörbach was spun off from the municipality of Halver and assigned to the newly founded municipality of Schalksmühle. Glör now belonged partly to the town of Breckerfeld and partly to the community of Schalksmühle.

On January 1, 1970, as part of the municipal reorganization in North Rhine-Westphalia, due to the law to reorganize the Ennepe-Ruhr district, a larger local area was split off at Im Dahl von Breckerfeld and incorporated into Schalksmühle. Since then the whole of Glör has belonged politically to Schalksmühle, which in 1975 became part of the newly created Märkische Kreis due to the Sauerland / Paderborn law .
