Kamp belonged to the Midder peasantry of the parish of Hülscheid until the 19th century . From 1816 the place was part of the municipality of Hülscheid in the mayor's office of Halver in the Altena district , in 1818 twelve residents lived in the place. The place categorized as a courtyard according to the location and distance table of the government district of Arnsberg had two residential houses and two agricultural buildings in 1839. At that time, nine people lived in the village, all of whom were evangelicals.

In 1844, the municipality of Hülscheid with Kamp was split off from the Halver office and assigned to the newly founded Lüdenscheid office .

The place is recorded on the Prussian first recording from 1840 under the name Eckert . From the Prussian new admission of 1892, the place is recorded on the TK25 measuring table as Kamp .

The municipality and estate district statistics of the province of Westphalia in 1871 listed the place as a hamlet under the name Kamp with two houses and 15 inhabitants. The municipality encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia in 1885 gives a number of 20 inhabitants for Kamp who lived in two houses. In 1895 the place had two houses with twelve inhabitants, in 1905 two houses and 21 inhabitants are given.

In 1969, the municipalities of Hülscheid and Schalksmühle were merged to form an unofficial municipality ( unitary municipality ) of Schalksmühle in the Altena district, and Kamp has been politically part of Schalksmühle since then, which in 1975 became part of the newly created Märkische Kreis due to the Sauerland / Paderborn law .
