history

The division between the city of Breckerfeld and the surrounding places already existed in the Grafschaft Mark when the area of the later rural community was designated as the parish of Breckerfeld . The community was made up of rural villages that were parish to Breckerfeld, but were not directly connected to the city. With the introduction of the Westphalian rural community order , the city and the rural community Breckerfeld together with the community Dahl formed the Breckerfeld office of the district of Hagen.

On April 1, 1899, the rural community Breckerfeld was incorporated into the city of Breckerfeld. During the territorial reform of 1970 , the city of Breckerfeld gave the district Im Dahl , which had belonged to the rural community until 1899, to the community of Schalksmühle , which is now part of the Märkisches Kreis .
